Brig came out of the dressing room with plenty of confidence and started the game on the front foot. Within six minutes, they had the lead. From a corner, Pond rose highest to power a header into the bottom corner.

After a few half-chances for both sides, Spinelli hit a volley over the bar from 20 yards on 29 minutes. Almost immediately from the goal kick, Isaac Sinclair won back possession for Brig. He found Spinelli, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Shaquille McDonald then pulled a goal back for the visitors on 36 minutes to make it 2-1, before Joe Strawn found the side netting for Brig shortly before half-time.

Jamie Milligan’s side had to withstand some heavy pressure around the hour mark, with Mathew Hudson required to make a fine double save to deny efforts from Callum Niven and William Radcliffe. But they took the ball down the other end and almost made it 3-1 when Mark Yeates forced a good diving save from Jonathan Hedge.

Hedge was then called into action from the following corner to deny Spinelli from a matter of yards, before Aaron Skinner went on a surging run past several defenders before seeing his shot saved.

On 80 minutes, it was the visitors who scored the fourth goal of the evening to level the scores. A Radcliffe shot took a deflection off Kai Moore on the way towards goal and into the bottom corner.

Brig applied late pressure, and Milligan made a triple substitution in an attempt to force a winner. But it wasn’t forthcoming, and Brig had to settle for a point that takes them five points away from the play-off places with five games to play.
